Family Centered Care

Birth has an important impact on a family.  It is an essential part of midwifery care to build relationships where mutual trust in one another’s competence is paramount. The midwife is an active guide through pregnancy and birth, and should express a strong belief in a person’s ability to give birth and make decisions that are best for themselves. Midwives  offer information, encourage, and provide experience and tools for safe childbirth, in which everyone works together for the benefit of the mother and child.

From a Father:

When coming to the Birth Center, we felt like we were welcomed into a new family. The midwives focus on giving parents choices and allowing the whole family to be involved. Labor progresses at its own pace and not rushed. We would never choose to birth with anyone other than the Ashland Birth Center. These girls definitely know their mommas and babies!”
